About - Request for Proposal |
A Request for Proposal (referred to as RFP) is an invitation for suppliers, often through a bidding process, to submit a proposal on a specific commodity or service. A bidding process is one of the best methods for leveraging a company's negotiating ability and purchasing power with suppliers. The Request process brings structure to the procurement decision and allows the risks and benefits to be identified clearly upfront. The Request purchase process is lengthier than others, so it is used only where its many advantages outweigh any disadvantages and delays caused. The added benefit of input from a broad spectrum of functional experts ensures that the solution chosen will suit the company's requirements. The RFP typically leaves all or part of the exact structure and format of the proposal response to the suppliers' discretion. The creativity and innovation that suppliers choose to build into their proposals may be used to judge supplier proposals against each other. Effective RFPs typically reflect the strategy and short/long-term business objectives, providing detailed insight upon which suppliers will be able to offer a matching perspective. |

Request for Quotation Procedure |
An RFQ procedure should be consisted from the following procedures:Scope of workPerformance and deliverable specification'sQuantitiesOther relevant data (eg electrical schematics etc.)
Be sure to include all the tailored needs of the particular goods/services you may need as well as the standardized RFQ package which you will be able to use in any situation. The steps should be as follows: 1) Be sure that the documents that you use are not copied from other RFQ's without prior inspection and change. Many products are totally different even though they might look the same or even have the same function. 2) When the bid comes check for the most important features to make sure that they are fulfilled and then proceed with the thorough analysis. 3) Separate the technical details of the bid from the commercial ones and hand the technical details in for analysis to the qualified personnel. 4) If the bid that fulfills the technical needs is the least expensive start the buying procedures, if not see if the one with the best price includes all the technical needs and proceed to the transaction, if not weigh the price and the technical details and always buy a product or a service that incorporates your key needs. As a reference for documents you can use the template section on RFP's.
